Manfred Mertins is an honorary professor for nuclear safety at the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences. Prior to this, he has worked about 40 years in several nuclear safety- and security-related positions, acting as expert and consultant for different institutions. By using his extensive knowledge in Eastern and Western safety NPP concepts and the collective operational and scientific experiences, he has contributed to the development of national and international safety-related requirement frameworks. For many years he was involved in many safety-and security-related tasks of the IAEA and WENRA/RHWG (Western European Nuclear Regulators Association /Reactor Harmonisation Working Group).
